Evidence of a Holy Light!

 Evidence of a Holy Light!

Beautiful People,

When we have no evidence of an outcome but believe in good anyway, then we have Faith.

Faith is the energy and the light of Love that opens the door to the UniVersal Heart.

Within the UniVersal Heart when we are willing to embrace the Mystery, we can walk with compassion and share our collective dream of Love through kindness.

It is then that Grace moves through us giving Evidence of a Holy Light
that magnifies and heals.

Through Faith, we become the Loving outcome of Hope and learn to live as beings of Light and Love.

Today please try to be kind and have Faith in the benefit of each Loving action!

Ten Times Breathe In Love. With each breath, Slowly Exhale Love.

Know that You Are the Evidence.

You Are a Holy Light of Hope!

Always, Melony

No matter what it looks like or what it feels like, Good Will Ultimately Prevail!

Today walk with your head high and know that your Compassion, Courage and Loving Actions do make a difference!

And as we live through the arguments, we must hold the space for Equity and Peace to manifest in our Own Good Actions!

Letting Go of the Day's Challenges!

Beautiful People,

Today,  Take a Moment to Clear Your Mind and Your Heart.

Breathe Deeply Ten Times...
In Love. Out Love!In Love. Out Love!

When we sit quietly, letting go of the days challenges, we learn to have compassion and Love for ourselves.

In this way as we honor our frailties, our courage and our strength--- Hope Returns.

This is Divine Spirit in Action.

We begin to heal with unconditional Love, and discover that we have more Love and compassion to share with others.

Today please take time to be quiet.

Allow Divine Spirit to move through you with unconditional Love and Compassion.

As you accept this nurturing;
YOU can become more energized to Love and nurture all sentient beings with hope, compassion and gentle understanding.

Open the Door for Love!

Beautiful People,

Take a Moment to Breathe and Exhale Deeply Ten Times.

Breathe in Love.  Exhale Love.
Breathe in Love.  Exhale Love....

In the still of the night; at dawn and throughout the day; into dusk and evening...

Always we are being asked to have courage and Open the Door for Love.

Love is ever-present in the whispers of the wind and even the harsh storms.

Love calls to us with mercy and asks only that we acknowledge its fruitful presence in our lives.

So Many Are Not Listening.

Still the voice and song of Love travels throughout the ethers of time and offers hope to those who are willing.

Today Is a Day for Simple Miracles of Hope and Compassion.

Awaken!  Say Thank You and Open the Door for Love.

Today Accept, Nurture and Share the Fruit of Love!

Melony's Wisdom Monday: My Advice to YOU...Follow Your Heart!

Melony's Wisdom Monday: My Advice to YOU...Follow Your Heart!

Beautiful People,

On planes, trains, buses & automobiles…

Through concrete deserts, sandy beaches, red dirt plains and mountain hills...
I have searched for the me I lost somewhere striving for the American Dream.
Or what I thought was the American Dream.

I was attempting to discover my passion. I liked everything, loved nothing.

As a romantic young woman in rebellion, I loved the wrong men.
And then grew to be manipulative
loving no one…Not Even Myself.

I was searching for money, power and success. I wanted to be a successful marketing professional, to have my voice heard, to make a difference.

And in many ways, I did and have!

I was so driven to make change in our society that in each and every instance, I met resistance with resistance and was prepared always to fight the good fight.
And I did.

By normal standards in Pittsburgh, PA;  I was successful.  I owned my own business, worked hard to meet payroll weekly, helped clients achieve their marketing objectives, planned media tours, press conferences, wrote speeches & coordinated special events.

I lobbied for all the ‘right’ causes and some of the ‘wrong causes’, was know as a “brilliant rebel”, and drove my staff bananas by insisting that work was life’s number one priority.

They called the office "Miss Mellie’s Plantation" and created a cartoon series.

I laughed.  Oh how I laughed!

Pro-bono was my middle name but even with all my good community deeds, I was still a taskmaster.  Inside I Was Dying. I was tired of fighting and wanting to belong.

During this time my Mom was downsized after more than 27 years, then she went through two bouts of cancer. I became a doting daughter walking around with fibroids and anemia that was so severe that life began slipping away.

Perhaps I enjoyed being a Martyr. At times though, the burden was too heavy.

Thinking a change would help, I prayed for financial security and less responsibility. God said okay.

Within weeks of my request, I closed my business and took a job at a major advertising agency.  The money was good. The transition was extremely difficult. Still all was in Divine Order. A few months later I had major surgery.
Afterwards I had plenty of time to reflect. Plenty of time to evaluate how, when & why I had closed my heart.

I Began a New Journey!
Ultimately, the path I have now chosen allows me a new way of thinking about life, about Love.

Today I marvel at the toddler that gives me a smile or a hug and says “Hi, Miss Mellie Rainbow!”, the senior that shares her or his story, the power of Love & Friendship and the True Potential of Our Human Collective.

My Advice to YOU...

Breathe. Listen Deeply.  Say Thank You! And No Matter How Challenging...
Follow Your Heart!

Live & Love!

Always, Melony

NEW YORK, NY, January 23, 2019 – Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee & Books – home of Cool People, Dope Books and Great Coffee – celebrates GLORY: A Life Among Legends, the new memoir by renowned dancer, educator, producer and author Dr. Glory Van Scott, with a special reading and book signing on Wednesday, February 13, 7:00 pm. The store is located at 5445 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA.

GLORY: A Life Among Legends (published by Water Street Press) honors artistic colleagues, explores integrity, examines sexism and racism in the arts, and encourages the new generation of artists.  It is a powerful memoir that takes the reader from an early life whose innocence is cut short almost overnight, to Dr. Van Scott’s dedication to the performing arts as a professional who would find herself at the vanguard of a new vision of African-American dance and theater securing its place as an original American art form. Dr. Van Scott’s story begins in Chicago, the daughter of a physician and a loving stay-at-home mother. But, after her cousin Emmett Till is murdered, it not only galvanizes a country, but it also spurs Van Scott with a passion to speak truths through art.
The memoir draws from Dr. Glory Van Scott’s life as a dancer with the Katherine Dunham, Agnes DeMille, Talley Beatty, and the American Ballet Theater. Additionally, she has appeared on Broadway in shows ranging from House of Flowers with Pearl Bailey in 1954, to The Great White Hope with James Earl Jones in 1968. While pursuing her career in the performing arts, Van Scott earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Goddard College, and her Ph.D. from Antioch College's Union Graduate School. She has taught theater at Bucknell University and Fordham University, and at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts, she inspired many fledging performers, including Kevin Bacon In 1978, Van Scott acted opposite Michael Jackson and Diana Ross in the film The Wiz. She produced The Katherine Dunham Gala at Carnegie Hall, and the 2003 Tribute to Fred Benjamin at Symphony Space. Van Scott was also project director and artistic coordinator for the Alvin Ailey Company’s The Magic of Katherine Dunham, and co-producer, with Woodie King, Jr., of the National Black Touring Circuit’s New York Dance Divas. Dr. Van Scott, immortalized in bronze by Elizabeth Catlett in 1981, was awarded the first Katherine Dunham Legacy Award in 2002.
