Thank You All for the Beautiful New B'Earth Year Wishes!I Appreciate and Value You All! 

I am so encouraged and grateful for the hundreds of comments on social media that honored Mom Betty J. Tilman, founder of the Good Neighbor Project Committee in Pittsburgh, PA.  It is a reminder that we must tell our own stories less those who write forget us!  Thank You!

"Well stated. Your mother Betty J. Tilman is truly special. I know from, and take pride in knowing her. It was your mother who convinced me that I could get my then employer, Gulf Oil Corporation, to make one of the first major contributions to the establishment of the African Heritage Classroom at the University of Pittsburgh! 

We did this through sponsoring a visit to Pittsburgh by Alex Haley when he was attracting large audiences while doing the research for what would become the book, Roots. 

We had him at a couple of major African Heritage Classroom fundraising events. Not only did this raise money, but it also heightened the focus on how important such a classroom at the University of Pittsburgh would be.
