Beautiful People, 

The broken teapot of old hurts, the worn coats of disappointment, and the many shoes of fear are all items that clutter my heart that I no longer need. 

I Am BREATHING.

BREATHING.

LETTING GO. 

Cleaning.  Clearing. 

Organizing.  Polishing.

Sweeping.  Re-Arranging.

 FORGIVING.  SHARING.

LOVING. 

I Breathe  Deeply Ten Times.

Say YES! 

Beautiful People,

Joy is often hidden in Yes.

It is part of the story of our lives that too often we ignore.

We are too busy to listen, to offer a hug or hold a hand of a person in pain.

We often miss the miraculous moments because we are pre-occupied with work or self or fear.

Today please pay attention to what is going on around you.

Smile and connect to others.

Call an old friend.

Visit a sick friend.

Say "I Love You" to someone you cherish everyday.

Play a game and read a book with your child everyday.

Draw a picture, sing a song, create a dance, blow some bubbles, or Work for Good Change and Freedom.

Say Thank You at least ten times a day.

Say Yes to Being Alive, Living Your Dream and Helping Someone Else Live Their Dream.

Breathe Deeply Ten Times.

In Gratitude and Joy. Out Gratitude and Joy. 

The Time Is Now!

Let's come together, work together, sing, walk and work together.

Let's listen to each other, be kind to each other, have mercy and support each other.

Let's Love one another and remember to cherish and forgive each other as we live and honor Each Day with a willingness to Say YES!

RONALD K BROWN EVIDENCE at The JOYCE Theater...IS MUST SEE, LISTEN and FEEL Dance Performance!

Beautiful People,

Last Night,  Deborah Ballard and I went to The JOYCE Theater to witness a performance  of the RONALD K BROWN EVIDENCE Dance Company.   

Instead of merely witnessing,  we went on a journey  of healing and hope. The storytelling, the music, the costumes, and lighting set the stage for us to receive the energy of the magnificent dancers.

Blending African dance with contemporary choreography filled with ying and yang energetic and technically challenging movement and dancers with personalities; those of us in the audience were invited to experience a range of emotions.   

We laughed and cried through HIGHLIFE.  We identified and felt moved by MERCY.  We embraced  Divine Love through GRACE. 

And having journeyed for 2 hours with these exquisite dancers while reflecting on our own personal stories,  (our conflicts and hardships, our joys, our struggles, our hopes and dreams)...

At the end of the Finale of GRACE, We All Rose, and Clapped with Full Hearts. 

Then Artistic Director,  Ronald K. Brown joined the dancers on stage.  And Again They Danced and We the Audience Were Inspired to Dance In Gratitude!  BRAVO!  BRAVO TO ALL INVOLVED IN CREATING A MAGICAL, MEANIFUL, MEMORABLE EVENING!

#HerbBoyd an American journalist, educator, author, and activist is the author of 23 books and one of the most important historians of our time.

His articles appear regularly in the New York Amsterdam News. He teaches black studies at the City College of New York and the College of New Rochelle.

"The author of Baldwin’s Harlem looks at the evolving culture, politics, economics, and spiritual life of Detroit—a blend of memoir, love letter, history, and clear-eyed reportage that explores the city’s past, present, and future and its significance to the African American legacy and the nation’s fabric.

Herb Boyd moved to Detroit in 1943, as race riots were engulfing the city. Though he did not grasp their full significance at the time, this critical moment would be one of many he witnessed that would mold his political activism and exposed a city restless for change. In Black Detroit, he reflects on his life and this landmark place, in search of understanding why Detroit is a special place for black people.

Boyd reveals how Black Detroiters were prominent in the city’s historic, groundbreaking union movement and—when given an opportunity—were among the tireless workers who made the automobile industry the center of American industry. Well paying jobs on assembly lines allowed working class Black Detroiters to ascend to the middle class and achieve financial stability, an accomplishment not often attainable in other industries.

Boyd makes clear that while many of these middle-class jobs have disappeared, decimating the population and hitting blacks hardest, Detroit survives thanks to the emergence of companies such as Shinola—which represent the strength of the Motor City and and its continued importance to the country. He also brings into focus the major figures who have defined and shaped Detroit, including William Lambert, the great abolitionist, Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown, Coleman Young, the city’s first black mayor, diva songstress Aretha Franklin, Malcolm X, and Ralphe Bunche, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize..."

Beautiful People, 

Some people may ignore you because of where you come from, your social status, your religious beliefs or your race.  

Even your birth family may choose to close their hearts to you when you have been baptized in Love. 

Walk In Truth Anyway. 

Still yourself and open your heart.  Breathe and Exhale Deeply. Let go of all the places in your heart where you have been hurt or disappointed, and where you have hurt or disappointed yourself, or others. 

Offer Forgiveness to All, including Yourself.  

Let Rainbows of Care, Compassion and Humility begin to cleanse your soul.

Keep Breathing Deeply. 

Embrace the cloak of Courage and Integrity. 

Nuture and Honor the Genius Living in You!

Every wound gives temporary pain but also is a lesson in acquiring Strength in times of adversity. 

The fractured or broken bones, your muscles, your brain and your tender heart are always healing through your genuine ability to see the joy in overcoming whatever challenges we face.  This is Life.

Your Destiny lies beyond the disappointments or failures.  

Your Destiny will not be marred by jealous thoughts or petty actions.

Your Destiny Resides In the Heart of Love. This Is Truth.

Truth is the only way to live as a Being of Love. Knowing, speaking and being the Truth is how we live Our Purpose.

Beautiful People, 

In 2017 I was visiting #GoreeIsland in #Dakar #Senegal. 

I met the director and he showed me a note from @barackobama

in a Guest Book that said 

"...We Must Remain Vigilant On Behalf  of the Rights of All Mankind!"

I was so grateful to learn that President Obama had visited Goree Island in 2009 and was extremely touched by his message of Love and Integrity. 

As I look at this photo I took of President Obama's Words of Hope; Even Today I Am Humbled and Encouraged by His Words!
