THE LAST OF THE LOVE LETTERS
Beautiful People,
I attended a brilliant performance of THE LAST OF THE LOVE LETTERS written by Ngozichukwuka Anyanwu and starring Ngozichukwuka Anyanwu and Daniel J. Watts at The Atlantic Theater on 20th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues in NYC.
This play, written during the pandemic is alarming, shocking, humorous and terrifyingly good. It shares two different perspectives of lovers and takes us to the depths of the often unspoken. Though we may not have experienced the journey of these characters, many of us have experienced the duality that love can bring.
This evening was made even more special by the assortment of artists and Black theater professionals in attendance.
On hand were Woodie King Jr. and Elizabeth Van Dyke (New Federal Theater) Sade Lippincott and Jonathan McCrory (National Black Theatre), Lawrence Evans (National Black Theatre Festival), Erich McMillan-McCall (Project 1Voice), Ezra Ezzard (ARTIFICATION NYC), as well as a host of talented actors, directors, and lovers of the arts including Cyrus Aaron, Ayodele Alli and Jamil Mangan.
BRAVO #ATLANTICTHEATER for making sure that we were all vaccinated and wearing our masks inside the theater.
Please try to attend this show that caused me to take deep breaths and far exceeded my expectations!
Thank You ChiChi Anyanwu for inviting me. Seeing live Theater made me feel alive. The energy of the audience was colorful and vibrant.
