Walk Towards the Rising Sun by Ger Duany

#WalkTowardsTheRisingSun:
"From Child Soldier to Ambassador of Peace" is a riveting new memoir by Ger Duany with Garen Thomas.
Beautiful  People,

The book "Walk Towards The Rising Sun" details the journey of a young boy in Sudan as the country undergoes a civil war.  Later South Sudan gained its independence.

We learn about the culture of the Nur people and travel with Ger from herding cattle, tribal disputes and becoming a child soldier to refugee camps in Ethiopia and relocation to the United States as a teenager.

But that is only part of his story.  In the United States he is confronted with discrimination and racism. Though shy, Ger finds his rhythm on the basketball court and was given an opportunity to attend college.

He has struggled, been in the right place at the right time to experience life that has been challenging, horrific and miraculous.

I've been blessed to know Ger Duany for many years and I am so happy with this memoir that serves as a healing balm for him and a Shocking Education for Us!

He has emerged as an actor, model, physical trainer and humanitarian, etc.  He is South Sudanese; after many years he became an American Citizen and also a Peace Ambassador, which has given him the opportunity to grow even more on a path of integrity.

He views the conflict in South Sudan with a broken heart, is dedicated to his Family, many of who have been killed.  And yet he is hopeful for the budding new nation of South Sudan.  He believes that Good Change Is Possible there, in the United States and throughout the World.

Even In These Uncertain Times, I Am Holding This Vision of Hope Too.

#WalkTowardsTheRisingSun is appropriate for Teenagers and Adults.  I Highly Recommend this book to All and encourage educators to use it as a classroom tool to help students expand their Worldview.

Always, Melony 💖
